Ruth-Marion Baruch was a German-born photographer who, in the 1960s, captured much of the Bay area in California. She photographed the hippie movement, Black Panther rallies, and street life in San Francisco.

A retrospective exhibition of her photographs is on view at The Breman Museum through Sept. 1. “City Lights” producer Summer Evans spoke with Tony Casadonte, gallery director of Lumiere and curator of this exhibit.

On Aug. 4, Julian Cox, deputy director and chief curator of the Art Gallery of Ontario, will give an art talk at The Breman. He will discuss Baruch’s unique place in photo history and the curating of her work for the 2017 exhibition, “The Summer of Love Experience: Art, Fashion, and Rock & Roll.”
