Since starting as teenagers, Shame, the five-piece band from South London, has become known for their jaw-dropping performances and sharp lyrical observations.
The band’s sound is hard to categorize, in part due to its ever-evolving nature. Their intense 2018 debut album, “Songs of Praise,” landed them in the post-punk genre, while their sophomore release, “Drunk Tank Pink,” infused layers of jazz and new wave on top of their guitar-driven sound.
Shame’s newest album, “Food for Worms,” is something else entirely and seems to reflect the band’s hard-won maturity.
Shame will be in Atlanta this Saturday, May 6, as part of the Shaky Knees Music Festival. In this interview, “City Lights” senior producer Kim Drobes spoke with bassist Josh Finerty, lead vocalist, and Charlie Steen about the new album and upcoming performance in Atlanta.
