Bill White, CEO and chair of the Buckhead City Committee, says the group spent the last year exploring what it would take for Buckhead to become a city — and the committee recently submitted paperwork to separate the community from Atlanta.
White, who was a guest on Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” told show host Rose Scott that crime — and the lack of response from Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to address it — is the main reason why the committee made up of at least 100 people is pushing for de-annexation.
White talked about the push for lawmakers to pass legislation next year that would allow Buckhead residents to vote on the community becoming a new city and responded to Republican state lawmaker Ed Lindsey’s oppositional comments about Buckhead becoming a city.
