Building a Firm Foundation: The Legacy of Cecil Alexander
Architect Cecil Alexander died on Tuesday, July 30th. He was 95 years old.
Alexander helped design many iconic buildings around the city, including the Georgia Power headquarters, the AT&T Midtown Center, the Coca-Cola headquarters and the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium among many others. But he was also a civic leader and worked to bridge the racial divide in Atlanta throughout the 1960’s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
WABE’s John Lemley spoke with Dr. Tim Crimmins, Director of the Center for Neighborhood and Metropolitan Studies at Georgia State University about the man and his legacy.
