Carapace Seeks Storytellers for Vietnam Event

A new memoir out later this year explores Atlanta writer Christal Presley’s reconciliation with her estranged father, a veteran of the Vietnam War. Thirty Days with My Father: Finding Peace from Wartime PSD explores how she reached out to mend a relationship that had been shattered for years.

For the book’s launch party this November, Presley is doing something unusual: seeking out others to tell their own stories associated with that war.  She’s partnering with local storytelling night, Carapace, for the event.

WABE’s Kate Sweeney sat down with Christal Presley—and with Randy Osborne, who runs Carapace—and asked them about their decision to combine forces.

Want to take part in the show? Carapace is looking to schedule more storytellers. If you have a compelling story you can tell in five minutes about how the Vietnam war affected your life, write to Randyosborne@gmail.com or write a note to Carapace on its Facebook page.
