Atlanta is known as the “Hollywood of the South,” and WABE’s podcast “The Boom” takes a weekly look at our growing television and film industry.

Our “City Lights” series “Speaking of ‘The Boom‘” amplifies the voices of local professionals who keep Atlanta’s moving picture business booming. This episode highlights Atlanta casting director and acting coach Clifton Guterman.

Guterman runs Thrive Acting Hive and Clifton Guterman Casting in Atlanta, supplying Atlanta’s film, TV, and live event scene with the actors it needs to keep running. Guterman wears many hats and has taught, acted, directed and produced projects for various clients.

He pushes back against the trope that casting directors get to choose the talent that passes through their studios for productions, but on the days that he does get to send out offers, he “loves… more than anything else.”
