According to the Justice Department, one in five female college students will be a victim of physical or sexual violence during their academic career.
This week, Clark Atlanta University is launching its annual campaign to mark National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The theme for this year is,“The Call to True Beauty 2013”.
WABE’s Rose Scott reports the institution is specifically including male students in the programs.

Clark Atlanta’s executive director of university relations, Donna Brock, says young college women aren’t the only ones at risk for physical and sexual violence.
“We also know that women between the ages of 16 and 24 in dating relationships are the most likely the victims of dating abuse.”
The university’s annual education campaign coincides with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
This year’s theme of “Respect”, says Brock, is taking a different tactic to addressing the issue.
“What we want to do is really approach the male population on campus, not as perpetrators or the enemy as some have done in the past, but really as partners in creating relationships predicated upon the ideal of respect.”
Brock says the university also endorses a dating bill of rights that focuses on courtesy, respect and building healthy relationships.
