CDC Stockpiles Protective Gear For Treating Ebola Patients

The Atlanta-based CDC is buying almost three million dollars worth of personal protective equipment for hospitals treating Ebola patients.

The CDC says the $2.7 million order will increase national stockpiles of protective gear.

CDC says the equipment will be configured into 50 treatment kits, which  can be quickly delivered to a hospital with an Ebola patient. Once delivered, they’ll provide protective equipment to treat one patient for up to five days.

Hospitals and state public health departments have been rushing to buy such equipment after a hospital in Dallas found itself treating a Liberian man with the disease.

The CDC says while the number of kits is limited, it will help address protective gear needs in the short term.
