CIA Interrogations, ACA Signups, Savannah Harbor & More: A Talk with Sen. Saxby Chambliss

WABE’s Denis O’Hayer spoke with Republican Georgia U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss on March 31, 2014.  The conversation took place on a day when many Americans were rushing to sign up for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act, which Chambliss has opposed.

The Senator is the ranking Republican member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which spent several years on an investigation of the CIA’s interrogation techniques in the hunt for terror suspects.  At the time of the conversation, there were several media reports about the committee’s findings, which are said to sharply criticize the CIA’s techniques and raise doubts about their value.

The expanded version of the interview also includes some discussion of the state’s bid to move ahead with the deepening of the Savannah Harbor, and the President’s plan to reform the NSA’s collection of the phone data of U.S. citizens.
