City Hosts Walking Tours of Future Streetcar Route

About 100 people showed up to walk the Streetcar’s 2.6 mile route, which 5goes from Centennial Olympic Park to the MLK national historic site. 43 year old Tripp Cook came from Sandy Springs to go on this walk. He doesn’t live or work in downtown Atlanta, but he says the transportation projects going on in here still matter.

“The things that are changing the Atlanta streetscape are really the things that change the entire metro area. Each little ripple here really reverberates  into all of the external cities and counties.”

Streetcar officials point to a study that estimates the project would spur over 4 billion dollars in new development by 2015. The streetcar is expected to be open for service late next year.
