Clarkston United: Horizon Theatre’s “Third Country”
In the 1990’s, refugee resettlement programs identified Clarkston, Georgia as a good fit for displaced persons from troubled areas all over the globe.
The resulting increase in population transformed the small town into what some people call “the Ellis Island of the South.”
A new play being produced by Horizon Theatre Company takes a look at that story. It’s called “Third Country” and WABE’s Myke Johns spoke to playwright Suehyla El-Attar and director Lisa Adler to learn more about it.
Third Country at Horizon Theatre opens Sept. 20 and runs through Oct. 20. For details, visit Atlanta PlanIt.
