There’s a push to make Cobb County more pedestrian-friendly.
The Cobb County Department of Transportation just received nearly $38,000 in grant funding from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
The funds will be used to support the Cobb County Pedestrian Safety Campaign.
The campaign will include books and a short video that highlight safety messages for children.
Officials say the campaign’s goal is to bring down the number of pedestrian injuries and fatalities.
“Engineering, education and enforcement are equally important elements for improving safety in our community,” said Eric Meyer, CCDOT planning division manager.
According to the Cobb DOT, pedestrian deaths in Georgia have increased 37 percent over the past two years.
