If you’re listening to NPR right now, and you’re also a fan of podcasts, chances are you’ve heard the voice of Jon Lovett. The former Obama White House speechwriter is a co-founder of one of the biggest hits in progressive political podcasting, “Pod Save America,” as well as his own live panel podcast “Lovett or Leave It.”

The latter offers him a chance to have serious fun with a constantly rotating gallery of guests; these have included Sarah Silverman, Kumail Nanjiani, Pete Buttigieg and John Hodgman.

“Lovett or Leave It” is currently on “The Errors Tour” and stops at Atlanta’s Center Stage on Thursday, October 5. In this interview, Jon Lovett joins “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes ahead of the show.

“We make fun of Republicans, we make fun of Democrats, we make fun of ourselves, we make fun of people who pay attention to the news with a kind of neurotic intensity,” Lovett quipped.
