Acclaimed comedian and actor George Wallace returns to Atlanta this weekend, this time to perform his stand-up comedy show “One Night Only.”

Born in Atlanta, Wallace is a veteran performer who won Best Standup Comedian at the prestigious American Comedy Awards after four consecutive nominations. He has made appearances on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” and is a charter member of “The Tom Joyner Morning Show.” He was also recently featured in Donald Glover’s hit-TV series “Atlanta.”

Wallace joined “Morning Edition” to talk about his upcoming performance and other projects he’s working on. He says the difficulties of COVID-19 and economic concerns have made it more important than ever to be able to laugh.

“You can’t even fake a smile without feeling better. That’s good medicine, the best medicine in the world,” said Wallace.

He celebrated his 10th anniversary headlining at the Flamingo in March 2014, announcing he was closing the show to head back out on the road.

George Wallace is performing with fellow comedians Myra J. and J. Anthony Brown Saturday, June 25 at the Atlanta Comedy Club at 7:00 and 10:00pm.

An additional 4 p.m. showing was added after tickets sold out to the original two shows
