Critically acclaimed Music duo 'The Waymores' stay rooted in authentic Country music
On City Lights’ series “Speaking of Music,” local musicians share work and stories in their voices. In today’s segment, we feature native Georgians Willie Heath Neal and Kira Annalise from the Country music duo The Waymores.
“We play what we refer to as nostalgic Country music,” Annalise said. The two songwriters both play guitar and sing.
Neal got his start in the early 90s when he was in the Navy. “Just out of boredom, some buddies and I started a band and we were fortunate enough to land a few shows overseas and I knew that’s what I wanted to do with the rest of my life,” Neal said.
“I met Willie in a Dive Bar when I was 22 years old, and I saw him on stage playing music and I knew that I wanted everything on that stage,” says Annalise.
“I wanted Willie and music, and that’s what I wanted to do with my life. I learned how to play guitar in order to flirt with him a little bit, then it just kind of blossomed. We’ve been together for fifteen years now, and we’ve been playing music together for eight of those years. ”
Nico says he would like to improve the world by helping people through their problems through his music.
The Waymores have an album release show at the Hunt House in Marietta on August 25. More information about The Waymores is available here.
