Decatur Book Festival Parade

The Madeline Children's Parade is Saturday, August 30 at the corner of Clairemont Ave. and Commerce Drive. They're asking people to line up at 9 a.m., but the parade begins at 9:30 a.m.

– The children's book “Madeline and the Cats of Rome” will have its world debut at the Decatur Book Festival this weekend. It was Ludwig Bemelmans who created the Madeline storybooks over 50-years ago. This new book was written and illustrated entirely by Bemelmans' grandson, John Bemelmans Marciano. In this story, Madeline discovers the “Torre Argentina,” which is a cat sanctuary in Rome. Recently WABE's Lois Reitzes spoke to Marciano about his new book.
