Greg Ramsey, the director of Village Habitat Design, says there’s only about 5 to 10% of land in DeKalb County that is undeveloped.

He says growth must continue, so there’s a need for preservation and protecting the land.

“What’s also critical is our communities and getting people reconnected to nature and to where their food comes from,” Ramsey said on Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look.”

During the conversation, Ramsey talked with show host Rose Scott about the cohousing community Eastlake Commons and a development approach called the Village Conservation Community (VCC). The VCC is intended to preserve DeKalb County’s remaining forests and urban agriculture lands and encourage walkable communities that enhance the quality of life, health and economic resilience for residents.

He further explained how Village Habitat Design is working with DeKalb County to preserve greenspace and agricultural lands.
