DeKalb County Deals with Election Night Technical Problem
If you were following election returns last night out of DeKalb County, you likely noticed how slowly information came in.
DeKalb officials dealt with a technical glitch last night in trying to report election returns.
According to Maxine Daniels, DeKalb’s Director of Voter Registrations and Elections, “We had no problem tabulating our election. We were able to do that perfectly well, no problem at all with that. We had problems exporting the file to the state.”
The issue turned out to be relatively low-tech: it was a problem creating the files to export.
Kennesaw State University provides support for all Georgia counties on election night, and it says DeKalb was the only county that had the problem. It helped DeKalb create new files, and all returns are now on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.
Daniels says DeKalb County has traditionally posted elections results on its own website in addition to reporting to the state but did not last night, as everything had run so smoothly the past several election nights.
However, she says you can expect to see returns posted on the county’s website on every election night going forward.
