Delta Air Lines says it will pull back more international flights in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Atlanta-based carrier will reduce service to Japan through the end of April. That includes canceling seasonal service altogether between Osaka and Seattle.

In Atlanta, flights to Tokyo will go from daily to five times a week.

Globally, the coronavirus is pulling the emergency brake on the travel and tourism sector.

That has real implications for Atlanta, which is a heavy-hitter in the travel industry.

To get a better sense of that scope, WABE’s “All Things Considered” host Jim Burress spoke to Henry Harteveldt via Skype. Harteveldt is a travel industry analyst and founder of Atmosphere Research Group.

Burress began the conversation by asking what the long-term implications might be to Delta.
