Delta Air Lines said it’s changing contracts at Atlanta’s airport, causing more than 1,100 workers to re-apply for their jobs.
The airline currently uses ABM, a facilities management company, for passenger support services, which include wheelchair service workers.
In a statement, ABM said the two companies have “come to a mutual agreement to discontinue passenger services provided by ABM at the Atlanta Airport effective Nov. 15.”
A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines said the contract will be taken over by the company’s own subsidiary, Delta Global Services, and that workers will have the opportunity to apply for jobs with the new contract.
The company did not comment on the number of jobs it would make available for the positions. It said that passengers at the airport who need support services will not see a difference in services.
