Dr. Beverly Hall Battling Stage IV Cancer

BREAKING — WABE’s Rose Scott has learned from a lawyer for Dr. Beverly Hall that his client is suffering from Stage IV cancer and is “gravely ill.”

[Correction: an earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Dr. Hall’s lawyer had made this statement in court.  WABE regrets the error.]

Stage IV cancer is described by the National Cancer Institute as meaning that “the cancer has spread to distant tissues or organs.”

The question of Dr. Hall’s health has hovered over the trial for almost a year.

In April of last year, we reported that Dr. Hall was having health issues.

In an interview this week with WABE’s Denis O’Hayer, one of Hall’s attorneys, J. Tom Morgan, confirmed the former superintendent’s health is suffering.

“As public information, there are some health issues that she has to deal with,” he says.

Morgan didn’t elaborate, and subsequent calls asking for clarification were not returned.

Hall is a cancer survivor, and WSB-TV reports Morgan as saying Hall is now being treated for cancer.

At this point, it is unclear whether Dr. Hall will be able to continue with the trial.
