An Early Start to the Allergy Season
This morning, Georgia’s favorite groundhog, General Beauregard Lee, predicted an early Spring.
The recent weather and pollen count might be an indication General Lee is right.
Dr. Stanley Fineman is an allergist with the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic. He says the unseasonably warm weather is making trees pollinate.
“What we’ve been seeing in the last week is pollen counts up to 88, which is a very high pollen count,” said Dr. Fineman. “This is very unusual for this time of year.”
Fineman says we usually don’t see those pollen count numbers until March or April.
If you’ve got an itchy nose, runny eyes, congestion or other allergy symptoms right now, Fineman says you can probably blame hardwood trees including oak, pine and cedar.
