Emory Chamber Music Society artistic director Will Ransom celebrates 40 years
This season of the Emory Chamber Music Society marks a milestone for a longtime Atlanta artist.
The organization’s 32nd season begins Sept. 6, marking the 40th anniversary of pianist Will Ransom’s years at Emory University. Ransom is the artistic director of the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta, and he joined Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” to discuss his favorite moments over the last 40 years and Atlanta’s incredible musical offerings.
Will Ransom’s 40th anniversary will be celebrated by a show on Sept. 14, with Ransom on the piano, accompanied by the Vega Quartet’s Emily Daggett Smith and Jessica Shuang Wu on violin, Joseph Skerik on viola and Guang Wang on cello. The show will feature Ransom performing some of his favorite solo pieces by Chopin and Debussy, a solo arrangement of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, as well as Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81, B. 155t.
