Emory University professor's new book explores what motivates Black women to run for office and the barriers they face
Dr. Pearl Dowe wanted to better understand why Black women run for public office, the resources they need and the unique barriers they face to win an elected seat. It’s the focus of her new book, “The Radical Imagination of Black Women: Ambition, Politics, and Power.”
Dowe, who serves as the vice provost for faculty affairs at Emory University and is a political science and African American studies professor, was a guest on Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look.”
She talked with show host Rose Scott about her new book and the research she conducted to put it together.
