Falcons to Explore Regional and International Naming Rights Options

The Atlanta Falcons plan to look at companies both in and outside the region when they consider naming rights opportunities for its future $1.2 billion dollar stadium.

During an event held by Bloomberg News, Atlanta Falcons Chief Marketing and Revenue officer Jim Smith said the sports franchise will explore several different kinds of companies as it looks for those to partner with for stadium naming rights.

“Technology, insurance, automobile, banking, all those are great categories that have a strong presence in the southeast that could be potential naming rights partners.”

But with the recent announcement of a new Major League Soccer team that will play at the retractable roof stadium, Smith said the Falcons could also look outside the Southeast.

“Especially as we’ve added soccer to our portfolio, I think that’s going to open some new opportunities internationally for us.”

Smith also said he believes the new stadium will be in the “top tier” among U.S. stadiums for the amount of revenue it will receive from those naming rights. Right now, the Falcons don’t have a naming rights deal for their current stadium.

Also during the event, Smith said Falcons ticket prices could potentially rise by as much as 10 percent.
