Members of the U.S. House voted 361 to 41 Friday to end furloughs for air traffic controllers.

The vote comes after hundreds of flights across the nation were delayed on a daily basis this week due to federal sequestration.

Victor Santore with the National Air Traffic Controllers Association says he’s relieved that staffing levels in Atlanta will return to normal just ahead of thunderstorm season.

“That’s what I was really most concerned about were the delays that were going to be really amplified by the lack of bodies once the thunderstorms started and once the visibility was poor in Atlanta.”

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved the measure. A spokesman for President Obama says he plans to sign the legislation.
