Fired APD Officer Will Not Get Job Back

WABE has learned a police officer fired for lying during an investigation into the botched 2009 raid on the Atlanta Eagle will not get his job back.

Attorney Mary Huber tells WABE the Atlanta Civil Service Board ruled against her client, Jeremy Edwards,  and that he is not being reinstated as an Atlanta police officer.

Last month, Edwards testified to the three-member panel he didn’t intentionally lie to investigators about a picture he took the night of the raid.

“At no point did I think taking the picture was in question, or I’d have explained everything about the picture,” he testified.

The picture showed a bar employee handcuffed outside of the Eagle, a Midtown gay bar.

Edwards claimed he thought investigators were asking if he Emailed the picture, not if he took it.

Huber says she plans to appeal the decision in Fulton Superior Court.
