Fox Theatre Hosting Gregg Allman Concert

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

He’s no angel…..but who cares?

The “All My Friends: Celebrating the Songs and Voice of Gregg Allman” concert is taking place at the Fox Theatre, in Atlanta, on January 10th.

Among the stars scheduled to appear: Trace Adkins, Robert Randolph, Natalie Cole, Widespread Panic, and of course, the Allman Brothers Band.

“It’s the only event of this nature that’s going to occur in the United States and they chose Atlanta and all of his fans to celebrate with him,” says Allan Vella, the president and CEO of the Fox.

Tickets go on sale November 1.

Although Allman was born in Nashville, his links to Georgia are strong.

Allman has lived in the Savannah area for years, and one of the tracks on the Allman Brothers’ legendary At Fillmore East live album is called “Hot ‘Lanta.”

The ABB also performed many free concerts at Piedmont Park during the late 1960’s.

“It was great, man, it was great.  I mean, because each time we’d play we would get a few more followers, you know,” said Allman in an interview with WABE’s Steve Goss last year.

The Allman Brothers Band, which also included the late Duane Allman, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
