Applications are now open for the FreeRent Foundation’s FreeRent ATL program.

The program, which is open to anyone 21 years of age who lives within a 20-mile radius of the Mercedes Benz Stadium, will provide 25 Atlanta families with up to a year of rental relief and other support services.

Jori Mendel, a partner and chief growth and community development officer at the Roots, says FreeRent.org’s mission is to keep more people housed and to help them build savings.

On Thursday’s edition of  “Closer Look,” Medal talked with show host Rose Scott about Atlanta’s widening wealth gap, the layered challenges that people face when they’re navigating an unstable living situation and the application process for the Free Rent ATL program. Applications close on Nov. 24.
