Fulton County Commission Chair John Eaves Ready for Tax Increase Fight
On Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, the Fulton County Commission approved a budget which contained a 15% property tax rate increase.
The action sets up a possible legal collision with Republican leaders of the state legislature, which last year passed a law banning any Fulton County tax rate hike until at least 2015. But Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves said he’s ready for a possible court battle, and he thinks the county will win.
In an interview with WABE’s Denis O’Hayer, Eaves said things have changed since their May, 2013 conversation about taxes, during which Eaves had said there would be no millage rate hike.
