After two in a half year investigation, all eyes remain on Georgia.

Former President Donald Trump and his allies face criminal charges in Georgia for their alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the state.

Earlier this week, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said that she’ll announce charging decisions by Sept. 1.

WABE politics reporter Sam Gringlas returned to “Closer Look” on Tuesday to provide a timeline of the investigation and to discuss what’s next in the case.

*Note: This interview was published before Trump was criminally charged Tuesday for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and block the peaceful transfer of power. According to the indictment, Trump faces four charges: conspiracy to defraud the United States; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and conspiracy against rights.
