The Future of Music at Franklin Pond
Ronda Respess opened the doors of her house to young string students in 2001. Since then, students of Franklin Pond Chamber Music have gone on to Ivy League schools and teaching positions and other worthy pursuits.
Named for the small body of water just outside artistic director Ronda Respess’ house, the organization is a year-round program for talented string students ages 11-19. The camp focuses on advanced repertoire and group playing skills. Respess spoke with WABE’s Lois Reitzes about how Franklin Pond has been fulfilling a need for advanced music education in Atlanta’s music scene.
The students of Franklin Pond are giving a concert tomorrow, Tuesday the 31st at 8pm in Kellett Chapel of Peachtree Presbyterian Church. You can find more information here.
