The temperature isn’t the only thing on the rise in metro Atlanta: the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded gas in the region is $2.09, according to AAA.

That price is up nine cents from last week and nearly 30 cents from last month, but the cost is still roughly a dime less than it was at this time last year.

The statewide average is $2.03, about four cents higher than it was a week ago.

“High demand and season maintenance should keep upward pressure on gas prices through Memorial Day,” said Josh Carrasco, spokesman for AAA. “Even though gas prices currently remain volatile, drivers are saving four to nine dollars every time they fill up their tanks compared to last year.”

The current national average is $2.06.
