Gas Prices in Metro Atlanta Rise Again

Gas prices are rising once again in metro Atlanta. WABE's John Lorinc has the story.

For the second time in as many weeks, commuters throughout the Peach State are dealing with a price hike at the pumps.

That includes metro Atlanta, where a gallon of regular, unleaded goes for $3.47, according to AAA.

Prices are expected to fluctuate throughout the month.

“I don’t think you’re going to see any major spikes upcoming.  In the coming weeks, you could see prices kind of pare back down the gains that they’ve recently made,” says AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady.

Brady also says the cost of gas in metro Atlanta is down about 25-cents compared to May 2012.

“There were a lot more things that were pushing prices higher, whereas this year we have ample supply, demand is down.  Things are relatively calm on all other fronts, in terms of supplies, issues and refineries being back up and running,” says Brady.

The statewide average is $3.41.  That’s up about four cents from last week and six cents from last month.
