Gas Prices Still Falling in Metro Atlanta
Gas prices across Georgia, including metro Atlanta, are still dropping. WABE's John Lorinc reports.
The downward trend has yet to end.
Atlanta drivers are paying about $3.33 for a gallon of regular, unleaded, according to AAA.
That’s about five-cents less from last week and 21-cents from last month.
The main reason? Supply is up, while demand is down.
“There are still those people who are not driving because they don’t have a reason to drive to and from work. But also people are becoming more fuel efficient, more conscientiousness when doing errands, looking to buy more fuel efficient vehicles, as well as the fact that the U.S. is producing the most oil since ’92,” says AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady.
Brady also predicts the cost of gas may drop even further as we head toward the month of May.
“Unless we were to see some huge spike in demand that is out of the ordinary or unexpected at this point. But if not, I expect prices will continue to fall.”
The state-wide average for a gallon is $3.33. That’s lower than the national average, which is $3.52.
