Georgia Bulldogs In Missouri for Tigers First SEC Game
There’s a newcomer to Southeastern Conference football and the Georgia Bulldogs will play them first.
The 7th ranked “dawgs” are in Columbia, Missouri to take on the Tigers.
The last time Missouri and Georgia played, Fran Tarkenton was called Francis.
The future hall of fame quarterback led UGA over the Tigers 14 to 0 in 1960.
So, technically a new rivalry could be born especially if the bulldogs lose…
Stephen Black is managing editor for SCORE Atlanta sports magazine.
“Georgia’s a top ten team and they have a lot expectation this year,” says Black.
“If Missouri doesn’t win, oh well we lost to a top ten team at home now we know what the SEC is like. But for Georgia, playing a newcomer to the conference, a team they’re supposed to beat on the road when they’re ranked as highly as they are…there’ s a lot of pressure on Georgia this week.”
Both teams won their first game.
Missouri put up 62 points in their season opener albeit against a much weaker opponent.
Black says the bulldog’s defense could be without players due to injuries and suspensions.
“That’s going to be a difficult situation when you go up against a high powered offense like Missouri. So, Georgia is looking at potentially five defensive starters being out for the game tomorrow night. They have a lot of talent on defense but any defense in the country would be seriously affected by that many losses.”
Still, Black says overall Georgia is the better team and he predicts a bulldogs win.
