A legendary part of downtown Atlanta’s history, and skyline, is heading off into the sunset.
The Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta closed its doors for good following Sunday afternoon’s Monster Truck Jam.
Throughout its 25 years the Dome welcomed nearly 40 million people to more than 1,400 events.
“All the different things from the conventions to the concerts, things like Monster Jam and Motorcross. It was a great venue and I would say probably for what they spent on the Dome, maybe like a 150 or 160 million, they certainly got their money’s worth there,” said I.J. Rosenberg, the founder of Score Atlanta, a sports marketing company.
Officials with the Dome say the building earned $7.4 billion during its run.
