Georgia nonprofits get boost to donations from 14th annual Giving Tuesday
Residents statewide were encouraged to give back to the community during the annual Georgia Gives Day, which has been held each year for more than a decade.
The 24-hour fundraising push on Tuesday was a chance boost online donations for nonprofits throughout the state.
The event is organized by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. In a statement, the center says the day of giving is aimed to drive awareness and donations for more than 2,000 nonprofits in the state.
Karen Beavor is CEO of Georgia Center for Nonprofits and she spoke with WABE’s Jim Burress about the importance of the day.
Beavor said it gives organizations a chance to highlight the story of the work they do year-round.
The nonprofits represent a wide variety of causes including education, the environment, youth development, health care and others.
According to the center, this year’s Georgia Gives Day earned almost $3 million dollars for Georgia nonprofits.
