Georgia Officials Consider Response to Supreme Court Proof-of-Citizenship Voting Decision

On Monday, June 17, 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court threw out an Arizona law, which required voters to prove their U.S. citizenship at the time they register to vote. Georgia has a very similar law, dating to 2009.
Opponents are hoping the state will now drop plans to enforce its requirement in any form.
But the state’s top elections official, Secretary of State Brian Kemp, says the state is still reviewing its options. Kemp spoke with WABE’s Denis O’Hayer.
