Atlanta poet David Bottoms died in March at age 73. He was an esteemed national literary figure and academic who left a profound impact on his readers and students at Georgia State University, where he taught beginning in 1982. Among his many accolades, David Bottoms served as Georgia’s Poet Laureate for a dozen years.
In this interview, the current Poet Laureate of Georgia, Chelsea Rathburn, spoke with “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk about David Bottoms’ legacy.
“I don’t think you can read any of David’s work without seeing that search for meaning. He found meaning in the most ordinary subjects,” Rathburn said.
