The chair of Georgia’s Democratic Party is eagerly awaiting Wednesday’s debate at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

State Sen. Nikema Williams calls Georgia a game changer in the 2020 elections.

She’s counting on the candidates to talk about real issues that affect everyday Americans, such as the state’s abortion ban. Williams hopes that conversation will be front and center.

The last time Georgia hosted a U.S. presidential political debate was more than 20 years ago.

Wednesday night’s Democratic presidential debate comes just over a year after a controversial governor’s race in Georgia that included accusations of voter suppression.

Many candidates will remain in Atlanta to attend local events and try to capture more Georgia votes.
