Ga. House Speaker Discusses Election, Efforts To Gain Support For GOP Candidates
State House Speaker David Ralston is making stops all around Georgia to help drum up support for fellow Republicans running opposed in Tuesday’s general election.
Georgia Democrats are vying to take at least 16 state GOP-controlled seats and gain the majority.
Ralston calls his weeklong tour necessary.
“I think turnout is going to be important. Hopefully, our efforts will help local parties and local candidates for the statehouse get their voters out to the polls.”
Ralston said he believes candidates “who can turn their votes out by Nov. 3 is going to be the big determining factor.”
As for a National GOP group setting aside a million dollars to try to unseat House Minority Leader Bob Trammell, Ralston says, at this point and just days before the election, all seats held by Republicans up for reelection are equally important.
On Thursday, state Rep. Trammell will be a guest on “Morning Edition.”
