Georgia Tech and Georgia Set For Season Openers
It’s a full slate of games this weekend as the NCAA college football season gets underway.
Tomorrow the Georgia Bulldogs host Buffalo and Georgia Tech plays Monday night.
So, here we go again; the bulldogs start the season with a pre-season high ranking.
But unlike dawg squads of the past, there’s no big name this season but collectively the #6 ranked team is solid says SCORE Atlanta sports writer Stephen Black.
“The defense is expected to be pretty dominant and especially the front seven lead by Jarvis Jones. The offense returns pretty much the bulk of the skilled position players outside of running backs, but there are some talented back-ups that can fill-in.”
Georgia’s first opponent, Buffalo, is not a powerhouse and the dawgs are expected to win.
Meanwhile, Georgia Tech begins its season against a familiar conference opponent, Virginia Tech.
That’s an ESPN Monday night game.
Black says Georgia Tech’s play under defensive coordinator Al Groh will get an early road test.
“I think he definitely wants to improve on last year which was not that good so I think the two things to watch for Tech is the defense as well as the quarterback position on Monday night.”
Black says the rambling wreck could lose by at least a touchdown.
