Georgia Tech Whistle

According to Georgia Tech, the whistle was brought to campus in 1896. Originally it was meant to mimic the industrial whistle of the times, but today it sounds at five minutes before the hour on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Stealing the Whistle was a prank pulled by students on occasion, but as expenses mounted to replace it, the practice was frowned upon. Today people can hear the sound of the whistle as far as midtown Atlanta.
