Many of the 9,000 people who ride the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority X-Press Commuter Coach Service into Atlanta each weekday morning are seeing new commutes.

GRTA officials have streamlined the routes from 33 to just 25, but they are expanding the hours on some of the busier routes, up to an hour each way.

“We are excited about the improved Xpress service and I am confident that our customers will experience a better commute,” said GRTA Executive Director Chris Tomlinson. “Long term, these improvements will lead to greater ridership and a more valuable service for metro Atlanta commuters.”

In addition to the commutes, there’s a new, direct route from Cumming to Perimeter Center and a “pay as you exit” plan at park-and-ride lots in the afternoons.
“This way customers aren’t having to stand outside in the elements, if it’s raining or cold, and they can get on the bus quicker. And the buses can move through downtown faster and hopefully get people back to their park-and-ride lots in the afternoon,” said GRTA spokesman Matt Markham.
The GRTA has been working for months to let customers know about the changes ahead of time, but it plans to have employees at all stops this week to help customers with the adjustments.
More information on the changers is posted on the GRTA’s website.
