But Is fake hair just the next hot commodity? And if it is, why?
Neal Lester, who is an English professor at Arizona State, talked to WABE about the issue. He studies the African-American politics and culture, including the importance of hair.
Lester first became aware of hair weave heists a few years ago when a Phoenix TV station called to talk to him about the issue. Lester says news coverage often makes fun of the trend.
