Longtime friends turned business partners, Clifford W. Knights II and Steve Vixamar grew up with a lack of health care. Now, it’s their mission to provide resources through HealthyMD. The health care company provides sexual health care, mental health services and other wraparound services for underserved communities across the U.S.
The work of HealthyMD comes at a critical time in fighting the STI epidemic amid the growing healthcare desert crisis. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest Sexually Transmitted Infections Surveillance report, more than 2.4 million STIs were reported in 2023. While data suggest the STI epidemic is slowing on a national level, STI infections remain high in Georgia.
On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Knights and Vixamar told show host Rose Scott that their company’s value is to save lives. They further talked about the opening of their new clinic in College Park, Georgia, and why it’s important for their healthcare company to be a trusted resource. They also talked about the importance of fighting stigma and promoting safe sex.
