When President Joe Biden takes the stage as the keynote speaker on opening night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Georgia State Rep. Billy Mitchell will be watching as a delegate.
Before heading to Chicago, the District 88 representative spoke to WABE’s “Morning Edition” about the bittersweet moments ahead and the Democratic momentum.
Mitchell told WABE that he feels that mobilization has been lacking in the Democratic Party for a long time.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has said that he will continue campaigning throughout the battleground states during the DNC. Trump’s running mate U.S. Sen. JD Vance is set to rally in Valdosta on Thursday — which happens to be the same night Vice President Kamala Harris will accept the DNC’s nomination along with her new running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
