Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris’ iconic song “Welcome to Atlanta” is now a rallying cry for the Atlanta Falcons.
The Atlanta native rappers remixed their 2002 rap hit to evoke the “toughness, unity, style and resilience” of the city and the Falcons ahead of the 2018 football season, according to a press release.
“Welcome to Atlanta means so many things, but it can mean different things to different people. It’s really subjective. For some it’s about the Southern hospitality, some it’s about the food, some it’s the history, and some it’s the sports teams, ”Ludacris said in the press release. “Just know that Atlanta is a growing city. It’s a city that is growing faster than any other in the United States and, just like the Falcons, we’re here to compete.”
Falcons players, such as Austin Hooper, Calvin Ridley and Desmond Trufant, appear in the remix’s music video that has the hook, “Welcome to Atlanta, where the Falcons play.”
