King Set To Deliver Message Of Hope For Strayer Graduates In Unstable Economy

The projected job outlook for this year’s college graduates is better than what analysts predicted.

Employers are looking to hire 10.2% more new college graduates in 2012 than in 2011.

Messages about looking for prospective jobs and staying positive have been crucial…as this year’s graduates sit through commencement speeches.

WABE’s Rose Scott has more.

Georgia’s unemployment rate is 9%.

That’s more than a full percent below the national rate.

Some industries are faring well, others not so good.

“This is probably the toughest time in the history of our nation,” says civil and human rights activist Martin Luther King,  III.

King will address this year’s Strayer University graduates.

He says economic conditions are constantly changing and there’s no steady indicator that employers will keep adding jobs.

“Hopefully some of these graduates will become entrepreneurs, even at a late stage in life because the reality of it is the more entrepreneurial skill that exist the more opportunities we create for others,” says King.

Many Strayer students are returning to education after some time away.

Still King says he also wants to convey a message that obtaining an education still matters.
